The world's first biphasic automatic external defibrillator, with impenance compensation, is the "ForeRunner 2" by Heartstream, a division of Philips Medical Systems. With Rugged, small and it's four-pound lightweight portability offers long-life maintenance free lithium manganese batteries and a two-button operation. Comprehensive voice prompts simplify use. Unit performs automated daily self-tests. The original ForeRunner and ForeRunner2 are the industry standard AED's used on many US-based airlines and in public assembly facilities.

Banyan International and Philips bring you the new HeartStart FR2+
AED: A portable, lightweight, automatic external defibrillator (AED) that
requires minimal device training to use and is an essential part of
administering first aid immediately to a victim of sudden cardiac arrest.
The FR2+ AED incorporates a number of breakthrough technologies that distinguish
it from other AEDs on the market. It is the only AED that incorporates Philips'
low-energy SMART Biphasic technology. The American Heart Association recognizes
a clear distinction between biphasic waveforms. A Class IIb recommendation,
defined as “safe, acceptable and clinically effective” has been given only
to Philips' SMART Biphasic waveform. Additionally, the Philips Medical SMART
Analysis system automatically determines if a shock is required and protects
against inappropriate delivery of a shock. This feature eliminates the need for
the operator to be trained in reading and interpreting the patient’s
electrocardiogram (ECG).
The FR2+ AED operates with long-life maintenance-free lithium manganese
batteries, performs daily automated self-tests that check readiness for use, and
has a bright LCD display, making it easy to use in dark settings. The FR2+
AED includes one battery, two pair of defibrillation pads, one carrying
case, video, and reference materials.
